Ain't nothin' but a houndstooth

As well as houndstooth being one of the most iconic prints of all time, it also seems to be the print of choice for the biggest icons of all time.

Here are some affordable pieces to get your teeth into:

Suit Blazer, £39.99 Mango | Scarf, £22.99 Zara | Dress, £20.00 She in side | Trousers, £40.00 Topshop | Skirt, £25.99 Zara | Gloves, £8.00 The Edinburgh Woollen Mill

It's hard to think of Coco Chanel without thinking of a houndstooth suit and Bob Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde" album cover was helped in no small part in being so memorable by the houndstooth scarf which is the cover photo's main feature.

In more recent times,  it seems to be a staple for celebrities wanting to make an impact, from Lady Gaga to Olivia Palermo.

Although houndstooth is one of the  most popular patterns in sartorial history, you will still be able to appear individual in this dog eat dog world.

Every major and minor fashion outlet alike are championing it this season and, with the monochrome mainstay finding its way onto almost every item imaginable, it's completely up to you whether you want to subtly add some panache to your outfit with a houndstooth clutch or go slightly more bold with a striking suit jacket.
