Traditionally you'd associate tartan with school girl's skirts and hairy men in kilts. This season, follow in the footsteps of the punk movement and use tartan's attitude to add a little sex appeal to an outfit.
It was tartans that stole the show at a variety of designers' AW13/14 catwalks, including; Alexander McQueen, Moschino and Marc by Marc Jacobs.
The tartan skirt (pictured below) is something that I've worn at almost any given opportunity as it is so versatile. Seen here with a leather jacket and heeled chelsea boots, I've also teamed it with a cable knit jumper, loafers and wooly tights for a wintery, preppy look.
